It’s another fun packed weekend in NYC for families. Below are some kid-friendly options for this weekend – September 7 & 8, 2019.


Saturday September 7
TADA! YOUTH THEATER OPEN HOUSE

Come and learn about TADA! Youth Theater at its Fall Semester Open House on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Join TADA! for a sample class taught by TADA!’s Professional Teaching Artists and a Q&A with the TADA! Education Staff.

Fall Semester Open House, September 7, 2019, is free, but RSVPs are recommended based on age.

Ages 3-4: 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Ages 6-8: 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Ages 9-12: 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Fall Classes September 16 through December 17, 2019 include: Broadway Babies; Musical Theater Minis; Rising Star; Broadway Bound.

MID-AUTUMN MOON FAMILY FESTIVAL

Mooncakes, shadow puppets, and the Jade Rabbit on the moon! Explore the customs and traditions behind this harvest festival with a mooncake tasting, arts and crafts, story time, and more family fun!

$12 per person. $8 for all MOCA Dual and Individual Level Members. Free for MOCA Family Level Members and above, children under 2, and Cool Culture families.

Saturday September 7
KITE MAKING WORKSHOP

Join artist Rafael Domenech, whose sculpture ‘Las Palabras Son Muros [Pavilion for Astoria]‘ is on view now at the Park, for a Kite Making Workshop!

The workshop is inspired by an experimental class taught by the artist Joseph Albers at the Bauhaus – a German school of art – in the early 20th century.We will rethink the kite as a structure for display by adding text and graphics. A total of 100 kites will be flown as a group to create a banner/an image/a floating graphic!

CHUSEOK KOREAN MOON FESTIVAL AT QUEENS BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Korean American Harvest Festival Committee presents the 37th Annual Chuseok Korean Moon Festival at Queens Botanical Garden. Celebrating South Korean culture, and riding the globally popular “Korean Wave” of pop culture, this event features musical entertainment with K-pop performances, Korean products, food vendors, and more!
